MCPG: Roaring Brook Press

The folks over at MacMillan Children’s Publishing Group (MCPG) have one of the largest catalogs around and trying to combine them into one post would be impossible.  Well, either that or I’d have to ignore some worthy titles.  Since that wouldn’t be very helpful to anyone, MacMillan will be broken up by their imprints.  Note that all of these imprints will be found at the MacMillan Exhibit Booth 3358.  Plan on spending a lot of time at that booth!

Roaring Brook Press mainly releases picture books and board books but this season they have a handful of promising titles for older readers including two of the most sought after sequels of the season.

Auracle by Gina Rosati.  Trapped outside her body, Anna sees and hears but cannot touch the one she longs to hold.  Anna has a secret: she can astrally project out of her body. But when there’s an accident and her classmate Taylor gets into Anna’s body, what was an exhilarating gift threatens to become a terrifying reality. Anna and her best friend Rei form a plan to set things right, but they don’t anticipate the feelings that are beginning to grow between them. This exciting, sensual novel explores the relationship between body and soul and the power of a single touch. Publication Date: 8.7.2012

Emily’s Dress and Other Missing Things by Kathryn Burak.  Claire comes to terms with her mother’s suicide and her friend’s disappearance with the help of Emily Dickinson’s poetry…and her dress.  When Claire’s best friend Richy went missing, he disappeared without a trace. But when Emily Dickinson’s dress goes missing from the Amherst museum, she knows exactly where it is: in her closet.  As Claire and her student teacher, Tate, attempt to figure out what do to about the dress, they begin to uncover the truth behind Richy’s disappearing act. Following a trail of clues across state lines, Claire and Tate attempt to find the person that Claire knows in her gut is responsible for his disappearance. Publication Date: 10.2.2012
